GAS ASSISTED MOULDING (GAS INJECTION)

Gas Assisted Moulding (GAM) of plastics is a new technology in parts moulding. This innovation offers an opportunity to reduce product cost, improve quality and allows designers to be even more imaginative in the construction of new design parts.

1. Reduced cost due to:
• Reduced material content;
• Reduced production cycle time;
• The possibility to produce single moulding. For example, when producing handles, it is not necessary to couple two parts;
• The possibility to use lower capacity moulding machines in relation to smaller mould closing power.

2. Improved quality due to:
• Removed plastic mass flow marks;
• Eliminated sinking of the moulding;
• Reduced deformation of the moulding.

3. Design potential:
• It is possible to mould parts with ribs of different thickness and to prevent sinking.
• It is possible to mould parts with cavitys without using mechanical marks.
• In order to improve the strength of the moulding, it is possible to include desirable quantity of ribs, bosses and other features without impairing the surface of mouldings.
• No hollows and suctions are left.
